Collection of information by AMSA

Personal information provided to AMSA via this website is treated in accordance with the provisions of the Privacy Act 1988. AMSA makes the beacon Registration web site available in accordance with the Australian Maritime Safety Authority Act 1990 sections 6(b) and 6(g).

AMSA will keep a record of your access to this website and will log the changes you make to your records. The screens you have accessed and the information contained within is electronically captured and retained to ensure compliance with Commonwealth record-keeping requirements.

Use and disclosure of information

AMSA uses the Beacon Register web site to collect information about you and your beacons for the purpose of identifying and contacting you in the event of a beacon activation. AMSA may pass your information to other agencies that assist it in performing Search and Rescue activities. A law enforcement agency or other body may exercise its legal authority to inspect our records or our Internet Service Provider's logs.
