Kinetic Technology Australia (KTI) is an Australian owned and operated company that manufactures EPIRBs and PLBs. Their EPIRBs and PLBs are badged either as KTI or Pains Wessex but have the same model numbers.

Lithium batteries are inherently dangerous if not completely discharged. A beacon that has reached its battery replacement date will still have charge in the battery.
Batteries should be handled carefully and not subjected to flame or cutting tools.
Be careful not to short circuit the battery terminals as rapid discharge of Lithium batteries can result in overheating of the batteries, rupture and even explosion.

It is recommended that this beacon be taken to your closest Battery World outlet and placed in the collection box or disposed of through collection points advised on your local State Marine Safety Authority Website. If you are able to gain access to the beacon it can be disarmed by unplugging the junction box in the wires to the battery. |
