Registration is free and we offer a number of different ways for you to register your distress beacon.

Online registration
The quickest and easiest way to register your beacon online.
Once you have created an online account, you will also be able to:
- update your contact details
- indicate change of ownership
- post trip itineraries
To register your beacon go to www.beacons.amsa.gov.au.
Renewing registration
To renew your registration, check and confirm your registration details by:
- the Online Beacon Register www.beacons.amsa.gov.au , Log into your beacon registration account, check registration details on the 'Contact Details' page and 'Beacons' page, if OK or once editing is complete click on 'save'. Once completed, please go to the 'Beacons' page and click on the 'Order Replacement Sticker' button.
- by Email to ausbeacon@amsa.gov.au or Phone 1800 406 406. Please quote your HEX ID/UIN, the operator will then confirm all your registration details prior to ordering you a new sticker.
A new registration sticker will not be issued until your beacon registration details are validated as current.
Please allow approximately two weeks for delivery of your new registration sticker which will be valid for a further two years.
Email registration
To submit your registration details by email, simply download, complete and save the Beacon Registration Form and email the completed document to ausbeacon@amsa.gov.au.
Fax registration
To submit your registration by fax, simply download, print and complete the Beacon Registration Form and fax to:

Change in Ownership
If you sell or dispose of a registered 406 MHz EPIRB, PLB or ELT please let AMSA know by phoning 1800 406 406 or provide details by completing the printable version: DOC: 90Kb or PDF: 90Kb
The seller is required to provide the purchasers name, address and phone number. The purchaser cannot register the beacon until the account of the previous owner has been updated to 'sold' status.
